A2 Dominion: New headquarters building approved
Ealing Council has granted planning permission for the 2,830sq m office space at 113 Uxbridge Road.
The group, which provides over 34,000 homes across London and the South East, will base around 300 employees at the new office.
Darrell Mercer, A2Dominion’s group chief executive, said: “This significant investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to the borough of Ealing, where we already own and manage approximately 3,500 properties.
“This purpose-built office accommodation will incorporate many sustainable features and will stand as a new landmark building in Uxbridge Road, offering an easily accessible service for our customers.”
Building work is set to start in autumn/winter this year and to complete in late 2014.
A2Dominion is developing a number of schemes in the borough, including the 500-home, £136 million Green Man Lane regeneration in West Ealing.
Julian Bell, leader of the council said: “We’re delighted that A2Dominion has decided to build its new regional headquarters in Ealing.
"We have worked hard to bring in new investment and it’s always encouraging when large organisations choose our borough as their base.
"We hope the offices will bring new jobs into Ealing, which will really help with the regeneration of West Ealing.
A2Dominion already has will consolidate staff at its buildings in The Avenue, West Ealing and at 85 Uxbridge Road into the new development.
The building, which will range in height from three to seven storeys, will provide a new gateway to the office corridor leading to Ealing Broadway.
A much smaller 1980s office block on the site, previously used by A2Dominion, will be demolished.
Since becoming vacant, the block has been used on a temporary basis by OPEN Ealing, a community arts project set up with the help of A2Dominion as part of the Group’s nearby Green Man Lane regeneration in West Ealing.
Located less than a mile from Ealing town centre, the offices will include a number of energy efficient principles, such as solar photovoltaic panels and A2Dominion is also aiming for an excellent BREEAM rating.
The interior of the new office accommodation will feature intelligent lighting which is adaptable to different levels of day lighting and occupancy.
There will also be a rainwater harvesting scheme incorporated to reduce the building’s reliance on the local water supply, increasing the sustainability of the building.
A landscaped plaza with mature trees will be created at the front of the offices, and green roofs will be installed to encourage local wildlife to flourish.
In addition, the scheme will include covered cycle storage and shower facilities to encourage cycling to work.
