Minister confirms HS2 tunnel for Ealing

The government has confirmed that its proposed High Speed Two (HS2) rail network will pass through Ealing underground.

Transport minister Robert Goodwill formally declared that the revisions to the line’s planned route through west London would include the 9 kilometre tunnel under Ealing and Northolt, Planning magazine reported.

The decision follows considerable public lobbying against the earlier proposals for a surface route, but is expected to substantially reduce construction time for the line through the area.
