Southall posts surge in new company starts

The number of new companies formed in Southall rose 20 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 compared with the same period last year, according to new research.
Business analytics firm Duport also said that women made up 32 per cent of new directors in the Southall area in the first quarter of the year, up from 16 per cent during the same period in 2012.
Duport managing director Peter Valaitis said the proportion of women directors was a record first quarter for the area, while the town’s share of UK companies was also on the rise.
"The influx of female directors in Southall is great news for the area, as a more diverse business community should lead to a new ideas and a fresh perspective on the local economy,” he said.
“The rise in company formation is also a good sign that business confidence is returning to the town."
