Nine more shopping parades in Ealing are set to be spruced up as part of a £1 million package given the green light by top borough councillors.

Ealing Council’s cabinet has approved a package of measures to regenerate the parades at Poets Corner, Hanwell; Lady Margaret Road and Western Road in Southall; Acton Lane; Greenford Road; St John’s Parade, Ealing; Haydock Green and Down Way in Northolt; and South Parade in Southfields.

The move follows a programme that has already seen 11 of the borough’s 61 shopping parades revamped over the past two years, with better parking and new street furniture.

Also included in the new funding package are improvements to Ealing Broadway that will see new kerbs, Yorkstone footways, and improvements to road crossings.

Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport and the environment, said the investment represented good value for money.

“Our streets and pavements need regular renewal and we want to spend our money on the areas that need it most,” he said.“We think it’s important to support local shopping areas, which is why we are continuing our shopping parade improvements.

“At the same time, there are big plans for Ealing Broadway, including the Dickens Yard development and the new cinema quarter. Alongside these projects, our works will help to make our main town centre more attractive to people from the local area and further afield.”
