Officials due to meet receivers over Empire site

Ealing Council is set to begin talks with the receivers of the derelict Empire site as part of its bid to push forward the development of the borough's Cinema Quarter.

The move follows a High Court ruling that has given the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation the go-ahead to take control of the plot of land at the centre of the scheme and appoint receivers, Ealing Today reported.

The corporation now owns a debt connected with the site and had been anxious to call it in ahead of Ealing Council and preferred development partner Land Securities’ plans to obtain a compulsory purchase order for the land.

A statement from Ealing said council officers would meet with the appointed receivers to discuss the purchase of the site next week.
