Ealing to pick partner for Dean Gardens project

Affinity Sutton is set to be appointed as the preferred partner for the redevelopment of West Ealing's Dean Gardens estate.
Members of Ealing Council’s cabinet is being advised by officers to choose the national housing association over a second short-listed bid from A2dominion / Rydon, when they meet next week.
The 209-home estate, which has a high proportion of one-bedroomed flats and suffers from design flaws, had been identified as unsuitable for refurbishment in a 2008 borough-wide review.
Ealing is seeking to provide a more flexible mix of housing by redeveloping the site.
An over-all costing for the project is still under wraps, however the council said it had set aside some £5.4 million to buy back properties from 47 leaseholders to pave the way for regeneration work.
A planning application for the project is expected to be lodged next spring for work on site to commence towards the end of the year.
Cabinet members were given an indicative completion date of August 2015.
They are also being asked to authorise director of regeneration and housing Pat Hayes to undertake a series of legal and rehousing measures for the regeneration work to take place.
