HS2 tunnel option 'to be explored'

An additional section of the proposed High Speed 2 rail line between London and Birmingham could go underground through west London, it has emerged.

HS2 chief executive Alison Munro has agreed to scope the costs of extending the tunnelled section of the line through Ealing, according to the Ealing Gazette.

Ealing Council transport lead Bassam Mahfouz said: “It made no sense that HS2 should be tunnelled everywhere else in London, but in Ealing HS2 had not even done the groundwork to see how much it could cost or what the impact would be."
